Handmade cardboard brooches.
They look like they have been excavated from a Egyptian tomb 😄
It wasn't intentional but I like how they turned out!
State which one you'd like:
- one has a crescent moon 🌙
- the other has two dots ⭐️
Placed on a coat or a bag, it will pop and give a touch of colours.
There're lots of recycled and natural materials that can be used to make art.
Walking around cities or nature (sometimes with sadness- rubbish everywhere), there're sources of materials that can be used. It can be accessed by everyone.
The main ingredients for my carboard art creations are imagination, knowledge, skills and chemistry. How to transform something from one state to another, adapting to the current situation of overproduction and using discarded materials in thoughtful and respectful ways for Nature has been on my mind since childhood. But I suppose it often, if not always starts that way with any materials and art: the transformational aspect. However I make every single step by hand.
Cardboard is already processed wood chips to make boxes, paper etc.. Boxes are even made of recycled materials now. But recycling has an end too.
A long process to create the recipe of that handmade clay begins by plunging the cardboard in hot water then left soaking for at least 24h, followed by mashing it to make a pulp. Then I squeeze the water out (I keep the water for later). Then, like making a dough for a cake, I mixed a variety of ingredients to make a 100% natural mouldable clay.
The final stage is sculpting the clay (see my past projects for bigger items).
I sometimes use the cardboard as it comes to make a frame to apply the clay on it. I also create furniture using the cardboard itself then apply a layer of clay. Airdry is essential before applying a first layer of white paint to eventually apply colours.
I agree varnish is not environmentally friendly but my intent for these items is for them to last and to be cherished beyond a lifetime 😊 So please consider this aspect too prior purchasing.
Everything you see on this website is made by me. Why so many mediums? Because it's all connected to me as one. One energy diffused in many rays of creativity. An expression of multiple skills through one person. It's a paradox of 'the same but different'. However you may see it differently and perhaps prefer the softness of a wool object or the strength of metal or the colourful visual aspect of a drawing so here I thrive to make all of this like an alchemist of some sorts! I revive the playfulness in me each time I create soemthing and I invite you to do the same.
As to why monetising all, I have been asked (rather told negatively...) I actually don't monetise all of my creativity but a few to start with and because I thrive when I transform anything into something else. I want to do this all of the time. I'd like to share my passion to the world.
One day it might all be possible through a new and harmonious system of exchange that benefits all and by doing what I trive for, I am true to myself.
